Birthday session in the woods!

THIS SESSION!!!!! This session will always be one of my favorites. I included more pictures because I just couldn't choose between a few!

In December of 2020 I made a very spontaneous decision to do a "birth month" series for 2021. Basically I made an announcement saying I needed 12 models (one for each of the month). The whole idea of this series is for me to further my craft and to do very different photoshoots I have never done before! It was first come first serve and you had to sign up on your birth month. Ayana signed up and from there we began planning her birth month photoshoot.

Originally we had the idea of doing a studio photoshoot which I have never done before, but because this series is for me to shoot sessions I have never done before, I very excitedly wanted to do it! I found a local photography studio online and emailed the owner to see if I could book a session for my client. Now although I haven't had a studio photoshoot before I knew that I should go take a look at the studio before having my client make this purchase. So, I scheduled a day to meet with him and weirdly, he wanted to meet at night. So, although that was off I was still up for meeting him, but I took my mom along with me so I wouldn't go by myself. We get there about 10 minutes before our desired time and we could already tell we weren't going to like it. The outside of the studio was very disgusting and not appealing at all. On top of that we were in the middle of nowhere and it was just a very sketchy area. After waiting about 10 minutes my mom and I decided to leave because it was not a place I wanted to take a client. So, after that Ayana and I discussed furthermore and decided to keep the studio feel of things but take it outside! I drove around and found this really cool area in Smithfield right by Johnston Community College. I saw the area and I said to myself, "this is it."

I believe the day before the session, Ayana asked if she could bring her brother along since they're twins and of course I said yes!! I brought one of my moms stools to the photoshoot while Ayana brought balloons and I don't think this photoshoot could've gotten any better!
